ESL has announced a partnership with Amazon.com, which will become the official sponsor of the upcoming IEM San Jose event.
The deal sees Amazon put up $25,000 towards increasing the event's prize pool, but it is unclear if this figure will be distributed equally between the CS:GO and the League of Legends tournaments.
Hardware from IEM's sponsors, including Intel and BenQ, is available at an exclusive discount at Amazon.com/IEM, with a percentage of the sales going towards increasing the prize money for both tournaments even further.
SAP Center will host IEM San Jose
IEM San Jose will take place from November 21-22 at the SAP Center, with eight teams duking it out in a single-elimination, best-of-three bracket.
"We're excited to have the support of Amazon.com for our Intel Extreme Masters activities," ESL Vice-president for Pro Gaming Michal Blicharz said in a statement.
The community prize pool funding is a winning moment for everyone involved, especially the fans, who will have an opportunity to support their teams in a new way."
Seven teams have received direct invitations to compete in the tournament, while the final spot will go to the winner of the iBUYPOWER CS:GO Invitational, taking place this weekend.
